Local nursing home residents to attend Simpson Bingo night

SIMPSON — Ever since forever, Bingo has always been held in the Black Box theater, with only students being allowed to participate.  Today, both of these things will change.

According to sources from CAB, Bingo is set to take place in Hubbell Hall tonight at 9 p.m., and men and women from local nursing homes are allowed — and encouraged — to participate.

Campus services will be busing in several senior citizens from different nearby nursing homes, giving them a chance to win big alongside college students.

“I might not be as spry as I used to be,” said a resident of the Village. “You can bet I’ll show those college students how it’s really done!”

According to the activity director at the Village, “The residents are thrilled to feel like a part of the community again. They spend so much time sitting around that the majority of them are willing to do just about anything to get out of here, or have someone to talk to.”

Because of this new addition to Bingo, students are asked to let the senior citizens have the first pick of chairs and prizes.  CAB is also requesting students to engage in conversation with the senior citizens in order to make them feel more comfortable — no matter how unbelievably awkward it will be.
