EX- “Hey Arnold” Character Discovered to be Student at Simpson

11086657_978658618825845_31675404_nSIMPSON – Fans of the 90’s era TV show “Hey Arnold” will be surprised to learn that major supporting character Gerald Martin Johanssen is currently a First-Year student at Simpson.

Johanssen had been attending Simpson under the alias “Cortez Daniel” in an attempt to separate himself from his time on the television show. To further hide his identity, Daniel chopped down his vertical column-like afro which made him almost unrecognizable.

However, after modifying his hair style for the Nostalgia Dance, his uncanny resemblance to Gerald from “Hey Arnold” was noted by onlookers. After several hours of questions from fans of the show, Daniel relented and admitted to his true identity.

“I just couldn’t keep up the lie anymore,” explained Daniel (Johanssen). “I wanted to start over fresh at Simpson but I guess I’m just going to have to deal with being a celebrity again.”

“Hey Arnold” ran from October of 1996 till June of 2004 on Nickelodeon. The show chronicled the lives of Arnold and his friends, including Daniel (Johanssen) who was Arnold’s best friend and a basketball superstar.

As a first-year student at Simpson, Daniel (Johanssen) is studying to be a music education major but has no plans to play for the Simpson basketball team. His girlfriend, Phoebe Heyerdahl, attends college at MIT where she is “rocking it.” As for the rest of his old friends, Daniel (Johanssen) has no idea where they ended up.

“We were only in elementary school at the time they filmed our misadventures,” reminisced Daniel (Johanssen). “Everyone went their separate ways or moved away. But Phoebe and I never grew apart.”

When the 19-year-old Daniel (Johanssen) was asked about the apparent time-paradox surrounding his current age and the implications that presented about his tenure on the show, he seemed just as confused as we were.

“I don’t know about any of that confusing stuff,” said Daniel (Johanssen). “All I know is that I can ride this celebrity gravy train for the rest of my life. I’m also interested to see just how Simpson’s public relations department uses and abuses my fame.”
