Girl Scouts Spotted On Campus! And They’re Taking Boards

2015-02-19_15-25-27After reaching an agreement with Simpson College, the Girl Scouts of Warren County will be accepting boards as payment for the delicious cookies they’ve been selling in Kent Campus Center.

Since Monday of this week, Girl Scouts have been camped out in the Kent Center lobby over the evening hours. Dozens of students have been ambushed by the miniscule and surprisingly persuasive sales-girls resulting in the emptying of pockets, wallets, and purses.

However, after half a week of sales, the Girl Scouts soon realized that they had depleted student monetary funds. Recognizing the reality that college students are poor to begin with, the Girl Scouts moved to create a partnership with the college whereby students could purchase their tasty treats with boards and flex dollars.

“I just couldn’t say ‘no’ to those smiling little faces,” said President Jay Simmons as he munched on some Do-si-dos. “And besides, they gave me a lifetime supply of their scrumptious cookies…”

Students have enthusiastically embraced the new campus policy and the Girl Scouts have restocked their delectable cookies accordingly. But are some students taking this opportunity too far?

“I’ve already burned through my entire semester’s worth of boards and flex buying up dozens of boxes of Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties,” said Austin Jacobs, a junior at Simpson. “I don’t know how I’ll be able to survive till the end of the semester, but at least I’ll die happy!”

The Girl Scouts could not be reached for comment as the writer of this article was too busy buying Caramel DeLites to bother himself with continuing his investigative reporting…
