New ‘Snap-Yak’ app from EMERGE to be beta tested next year

Recent developments have finally come in from Simpson College’s EMERGE team about their new and exciting app. The app they dub “Snap-Yak” is an anonymous photo-sharing app that allows students to post photos without being identified.
The EMERGE team is mostly excited about the creative possibilities of the app. They say the app will be used for bettering the creative energy around Simpson’s campus by letting students capture the world around them and share those moments on Snap-Yak.

This progress on the new app is already staring some controversy on the college campus. Members of Academic College Dishonestly Committee (ACDC) are concerned that the app could be used to cheat on tests. “We are mostly concerned about the integrity of Simpson College. We know for a fact, in the past apps like this have been flooded with sexually explicit material, so our main concern is what the students will do next to abuse this app,” said a spokesperson for ACDC.

The President of EMERGE spoke out against this dispute by saying “Snap-Yak is entirely safe. Students in college have no need to cheat. This app will be used exclusively for sharing pictures of the campus. No sexually explicit content will be shared and no students will use this app to cheat.”

When completed the app will feature a system that uses your phones camera to capture pictures. Any picture taken will be uploaded to a private folder that only the user can access via password. Then when the user wishes to send any of their taken photos they simply just click the post button. This will send the posted photo to all the Snap-Yak users in a 40 mile radius.

A new feature that will be available is a “HOT Picture” button the HOT Picture button will allow any person viewing any photo to send the poster money in order to encourage them to post more photos of the campus.

“We are really excited about the HOT Picture ability. The capability to gift an artist money in order to persuade them to post more pictures is a really great opportunity to form the Simpson Art community.

The app should be ready for beta testing in time for next year.
